Please click here for the SECWLA EGM Minutes. ______The council wishes good fortune to the departing Powerlifters. Please note that the BWLA will still be the home of the Paralympic (disabled) Powerlifters and will continue to receive funding for this from Sport UK. The recent successful negotiation with Sport England has brought support of £609,000 for the BWLA 4 year plan. Most of this will be devoted to supporting grass roots Weightlifting. Most of the bank balance of the SE has come from courses run by and taught by Olympic Weightlifters. The greatest expenditure from that reserve has been on equipment for Powerlifting clubs. It is most likely that the equipment will be left with those clubs though discussions are continuing on whether or not the departing Powerlifters will pay a small rent over the next few years in order to have the use and retention of that equipment. Negotiations are also continuing to decide if the Powerlifters will be granted a share of the SE counties bank account. The BWLA has taken legal advice and determined that all funds and equipment ultimately are BWLA property. None of it can be allocated to the Powerlifters without BWLA agreement. The SE Council is attempting to clarify this further.
